The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has honoured one of its volunteer staff, Nura Abdullahi, for returning more than ₦20 million that was forgotten in a commercial tricycle in Kano.

Abdullahi, attached to the NSCDC Zone 12 Command, reportedly discovered the bag of money while commuting and immediately took steps to trace its owner. The cash was later identified as belonging to Alhaji Mustafa, a businessman from Katsina State who was in Kano for a transaction.

Zonal Commander, Assistant Commandant General Amos Abiodun Taiwo, presented a commendation letter to Abdullahi, describing his action as a rare display of honesty and a reflection of the values the Corps seeks to uphold.

Taiwo said the decision to publicly recognise Abdullahi was aimed at encouraging integrity among citizens and boosting public confidence in the NSCDC.

“This commendation is not just for returning the money, but for demonstrating that integrity still exists among our people,” he said.

The owner of the money expressed deep gratitude, calling the gesture “life-saving” and commending the NSCDC for ensuring transparency in the process.

The Corps urged Nigerians to emulate such behaviour, noting that acts of honesty play a vital role in strengthening trust within society.
