Social commentator Daniel Regha has weighed in on the controversy surrounding the alleged assassination attempt on Nigerian Navy officer, Lt. Ahmed Yerima, following his recent confrontation with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Regha stated that although Wike currently faces several public criticisms, it would be premature to consider him the primary suspect in the reported incident, especially as the two men have recently been at odds.
He noted that such assumptions could easily arise due to their public disagreement.
According to him, Wike is a prominent political figure with many adversaries, and if the incident had truly occurred, it might have been driven by political motives rather than personal conflict.
Regha added that the minister, having already lost a measure of public support following the confrontation, would likely avoid any action capable of generating further controversy.

He expressed relief that Lt. Yerima remained unharmed and offered prayers for the officer’s continued safety.
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has since denied the reports, describing the alleged assassination attempt as false and unverified.
