A 19-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly f@tally stbbing an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) during a confrontation in Ondo State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday evening in the Ondo West area, where the officer and his team were carrying out routine security checks. According to eyewitnesses, an argument broke out between the teenager and the NSCDC operatives before it escalated into v!olence.
The suspect was said to have pulled out a kn!fe and stbbd the officer in the chest, leaving him with severe injuries. The officer was rushed to a nearby hospital but was confirmed d*ad shortly after arrival.
The Ondo State NSCDC Command, in a statement, described the attack as “shocking and unfortunate,” adding that the suspect was captured by residents as he attempted to flee the scene.
He has since been handed over to the police for further investigation.
Authorities say a full inquiry has been launched, while the body of the officer has been deposited at a government mortuary.
