The Abia State Government has sealed the campaign office of Renewed Hope Partners (RHP), a group supporting President Bola Tinubu, in Umuahia, the state capital.
RHP, reportedly promoted across the South East by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, discovered the office sealed without prior notice. An official of the group, speaking anonymously, said he arrived at the office only to find it closed.
A notice posted on the office walls by the Ministry of Lands and Housing stated that the property was in violation of Sections 41 and 100 of the Abia State Tax Law (Codification and Consolidation), Law No. 7 of 2020.
The notice warned that any attempt by the owner, occupiers, neighbours, or passersby to unseal the building would constitute a breach of the law.
