Tinubu Orders Round-the-Clock Air Surveillance in Kidnap-Prone Forests

FATI SALAM

President Bola Tinubu has ordered a continuous 24-hour aerial security cordon over forest areas in Kwara, Kebbi, and Niger States following a surge in kidnappings and terr*rist attacks.

The directive, issued after briefings with top defence officials, tasks the Nigerian Air Force with nonstop surveillance over remote forest zones reportedly used by band!ts and k!dnappi*g gangs.

Presidential sources said the aerial units will work closely with ground troops stationed in vulnerable communities to monitor crim!nal movements, disrupt hideouts, and facilitate rapid rescue of abdu*ted vict!ms.

The measure comes after repeated att*cks on schools and rural settlements, highlighting a worrying spike in coordinated abd*ctions in Kebbi and Niger States. Security agencies have also been instructed to strengthen intelligence gathering and tighten patrols along forest routes.

Residents in affected areas have been urged to remain alert and report any suspicious activity as operations intensify.

The presidency described the move as part of a broader effort by Tinubu to reclaim forest corridors long controlled by crim!nal networks and restore stability to threatened communities.
