Four people are feared de*d and five others injur*d following a viol*nt disp*te over land on Monday at Kilometre 1, Asaba–Benin Expressway.

Dalha Muhammad, caretaker of the property, said the incident occurred around 12 noon when individuals described as arm*d vigilantes arrived in several vehicles to evict the tenants. He alleged that the group opened fire after the tenants refused to vacate.

The injured were taken to St. Rebecca Hospital, Asaba, where they are receiving treatment for gunsh*t wounds. Two of the deceased have been identified as Kabiru Abdullahi and Mohammed, while two of the injured are named Baba Ado and Muzan.

Alhaji Auwalu Dalhatu, Chairman of Abraka Quarters, confirmed that security operatives had previously visited the property on November 21, instructing the occupants to leave. He noted that the tenants relied on a court judgment recognizing Mr. Kingsley Ijebuonwu as the legitimate landlord. Dalhatu added that the tenants reported earlier thre*ts to the B Division Police Station and were assured protection.

Mr. Ijebuonwu, the landlord, told reporters that the land belonged to his late father and has been subject to ongoing legal disputes. He also alleged that rival claimants submitted documents he believes are not genuine, though this remains unverified.

Counsel to the landlord, Barr. Charles Obodozie, condemned the att@ck, emphasizing that the matter is still before the courts.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed that the police are investigating injuries related to what he described as a process connected to executing a court order. At the time of reporting, there was no official confirmation of d*aths.
