The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confiscated the passport of former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN, as part of ongoing investigations into the alleged mismanagement of the $490 million Abacha loot repatriated to Nigeria under a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT).

According to sources, Malami’s passport was taken on Friday, forming a key condition for his release on Saturday.

He has also been directed to report daily to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja for continued questioning.

Officials confirmed that Malami has been placed on a one-month travel restriction, and cannot leave the country without EFCC approval or a valid High Court order.
