Breaking News: Fraudulent NGO Scheme Exposed in Nigeria
In a shocking development, investigative journalist Mr. Ben has revealed a fraudulent scheme involving the Metropolitan School of Business & Management (MSBM) UK. This organization is accused of posing as a non-governmental organization (NGO) and falsely claiming to offer scholarships for Nigerians seeking to study abroad, all while attempting to blackmail prominent media figure Mr. Nedu, who was misled into believing their initiative was legitimate.
Mr. Nedu, known for his philanthropic efforts, was approached by the group to help organize a charity event aimed at raising funds for Nigerian students. However, it soon became evident that this so-called NGO was merely a profit-driven enterprise without any official registration. They enticed Mr. Nedu and his company, Talking Drum, with a polished website that appeared credible.
The scheme initially involved a payment of approximately 40 million Naira (around $45,000) to Mr. Nedu’s company for organizing the event and promoting it through influencers. However, concerns arose when the group insisted on charging gate fees of $750 to $1,000 per guest, seeking to profit substantially from the charity event. Mr. Nedu cautioned that such pricing would likely deter donations in Nigeria, leading to escalating tensions.
When Mr. Nedu chose to abandon the gate fee plan, the group demanded the return of the initial deposit. They became hostile upon realizing he had already spent around 35 million Naira on event preparations. Despite the turmoil, the charity event ultimately went ahead.
This incident raises serious questions about the integrity of organizations claiming to support educational initiatives abroad. It also highlights the potential dangers posed by influential figures like VDM, who, instead of conducting a proper investigation, labeled Mr. Nedu a fraud on social media. VDM has reportedly misused his platform to bully and blackmail Mr. Nedu, leveraging his following to intimidate those who challenge his narrative, which raises significant concerns about the state of public discourse.
