The Delta State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services, and Girl Child Development, Orode Uduaghan, has reacted to the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan by the Senate.
Orode, daughter of former Delta State Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, took to her Instagram stories on Thursday, March 5, to share her thoughts, hinting at her own experiences as a woman in politics.
“International Women’s Month. Lol,” she wrote, adding a cryptic remark about eventually speaking up.
In a follow-up post, she shared a video of former Cross River lawmaker Cletus Obun suggesting that women may need mental stability tests before holding political office.
Responding to this, Orode commented, “#WomenInPolitics. One day I will set a ring light and microphone.”
The controversy surrounding Akpoti’s suspension has sparked debates on gender dynamics in Nigerian politics.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator was handed a six-month suspension after a Senate disciplinary committee ruled that she breached Senate rules following her s*xual harassment allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
