The Kwara State Police Command has launched an investigation into the gruesome killing of Alhaji Idris Abubakar, the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Kwara State chapter.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the tragic incident occurred on Friday, March 8, 2025, at the entrance of the deceased’s residence in Oke Ose, Oke-Oyi, a suburb of Ilorin, the state capital.
The statement revealed that the assailants shot Abubakar dead before fleeing the scene. Detectives from the command swiftly responded to the distress call and recovered five expended 7.62mm ammunition shells from the crime scene.
His remains have since been deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) mortuary.
In response to the incident, the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has commenced a comprehensive investigation to unravel the motive behind the killing and apprehend those responsible.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, psc(+), has assured the public that no stone will be left unturned in bringing the culprits to justice.
He urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with the police by providing any useful information that could aid the investigation.
