U.S. President Donald Trump has announced plans to purchase a brand-new Tesla as a public show of support for Elon Musk, the company’s CEO and one of his top campaign donors.
In a post on his Truth Social platform on Tuesday, Trump praised Musk’s contributions and accused political opponents of attempting to undermine him.
“To Republicans, Conservatives, and all great Americans, Elon Musk is ‘putting it on the line’ in order to help our Nation, and he is doing a FANTASTIC JOB!” Trump wrote.
“But the Radical Left Lunatics, as they often do, are trying to illegally and collusively boycott Tesla… I’m going to buy a brand new Tesla tomorrow morning as a show of confidence and support for Elon Musk, a truly great American.”
Musk, who is also the world’s richest person, responded to the announcement on his X platform, expressing gratitude to the president.
Since returning to the White House in January, Trump has given Musk a prominent role in his administration, appointing him as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
In this position, Musk has been tasked with slashing federal government spending and downsizing agency workforces.
However, these cost-cutting measures have faced growing resistance. Protests, legal challenges, and pressure from lawmakers have slowed Musk’s efforts to streamline government operations.
