A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and youth advocate, Comrade Isaac Balami, has strongly condemned what he described as sustained media attacks against Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, calling such criticism an attack on Nigerian youths and the less privileged.

Balami, in a statement on Tuesday, expressed dismay over the recent social media backlash following Seyi Tinubu’s appearance alongside his father during a visit to Rome for the inauguration of the Pope.

He argued that most of the narratives aimed at Seyi were targeted attempts to undermine his growing popularity and philanthropic efforts.

According to him, “An attack on Seyi Tinubu should be seen as an attack on Nigerian youths and the less privileged, whose interests he has consistently protected through his advocacy and foundation.

These unwarranted attacks are nothing but distractions orchestrated by those threatened by his rising profile.”

Speaking further, Balami criticized the trend of political bitterness and what he called the “Pull Him Down” syndrome in Nigerian politics.

He lamented that individuals with genuine intentions were often targeted unjustly.

“I don’t know why some people are only interested in pulling others down to gain relevance. Success doesn’t require destroying others. It’s high time those involved in this narrative building took a step back,” he said.

He cited previous instances of coordinated online trolling, including the recent apology from a factional leader of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) after a misunderstanding involving Seyi Tinubu
