The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede, has dismissed claims suggesting that the recent technical glitches experienced during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) were part of a calculated attempt to undermine candidates from any specific region in the country.

Speaking during a management meeting ahead of the release of the results of the rescheduled UTME, Oloyede addressed growing concerns from some quarters, particularly following the disruption of examinations in the five South-East states and Lagos.

He described the allegations of conspiracy as unfounded and unfortunate, reiterating JAMB’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and equal opportunity for all Nigerian candidates.

“There is no conspiracy against any part of the country. Every candidate is a Nigerian and deserves equal treatment,” the Registrar stated.

The JAMB boss also addressed the tragic death of a candidate during the conduct of the examination, expressing deep regret and leading a one-minute silence in honour of the deceased.

Recall that following the announcement of the technical glitch, concerns were raised by stakeholders, including members of the 10th House of Representatives from the South-East geopolitical zone, who called for Prof. Oloyede’s resignation, accusing the board of negligence and bias.

In response, Oloyede maintained that the board is working diligently to ensure affected candidates are not disadvantaged, with the rescheduled examination conducted to accommodate those impacted by the glitch.

He assured the public that JAMB remains committed to improving its examination processes and embracing technology while learning from any setbacks.
