President Bola Tinubu is expected to nominate former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa (rtd), as the new Minister of Defence.

This comes after Mohammed Badaru Abubakar resigned from the position on Monday due to health reasons.

NAIJA24NEWS gathered  that the President has already begun arrangements to bring Gen. Musa into the cabinet, following calls within government to include a former military officer in the role.

Gen. Musa met with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on Monday evening.

He arrived at the State House at about 7:03 p.m., dressed in dark-green traditional attire, and was led into the President’s office by a senior security officer.

This is his first public meeting with the President since he was retired on October 24, 2025.

If confirmed, Musa will replace Badaru as the new Minister of Defence.
