Uzochukwu Kalu has been arrested by the state government of anambra state for giving out the hands of his underage daughter in marriage.
He was arrested following the report of his daughter to the Ministry of women affairs and social welfare for the maltreatment melted on her by the father and the man she was forced to marry.
Chioma Okoli, who is the victim of age 16 years old , said her father took her and her elder sister out of Edo state only to relocate to Anambra following the death of her mother. According to her, she was first forced to live with a 70 years old man when she was 14 years old, she ran back to her father’s house after her inability to cope with the said old man only for her to be forced into another marriage with a 34 years old man named Chinedu Nweke.
The victim, Chioma said Chinedu has made her life a living hell as he maltreats her and her 9 months old baby which made her retorted to running away and also reports the issue to the social welfares to come to her aid.
Her father, Uzochukwu on the contrary said his daughter is 18 years old not 16 as she said earlier and he also threatened to deal with her if he made it out of prison as he’s been detained presently.
