Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has asserted that, beyond President Bola Tinubu, he does not require anyone’s approval before embarking on any project.
Wike made this declaration yesterday during the flag-off ceremony for the N7 billion Kwaita-Yebu Road project in the Kwali Area Council.
This statement comes amid a dispute with FCT Senator Ireti Kingibe, who recently criticized Wike for initiating infrastructural projects she claimed had little impact on the lives of FCT residents.
Addressing these criticisms, Wike remarked, “For those who are ignorant and don’t know what to say, that we are only doing roads, please let the people know that we are doing something. I don’t need to seek permission from anybody to tell them what projects I will embark upon.”
Wike emphasized that his accountability lies solely with the President, saying, “It is only the person who appointed me that I can seek such from, and that is the President. So nobody can go on air and say they are not doing schools, I don’t need to come and inform you.”
