The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has lauded the defection of former Senate President Pius Anyim to the APC, describing it as “a huge blessing” for the party.
Ganduje expressed his excitement in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, on Sunday in Abuja.
Ganduje highlighted the significant impact Anyim’s vast political experience would have on the APC, emphasizing the value of his contributions to the party’s growth and strategy.
Earlier, Mr. Ganduje had officially welcomed Anyim, who transitioned from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, during a ceremony in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State.
“I’m elated to receive such an important personality into our party. I want to assure you, on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, that you are welcome to the largest political party in Africa.
“Be assured that we will give you equal opportunity like old members of our party so that you can come to the table with your huge experience and followership,” Mr. Ganduje stated.
Addressing the South-East geo-political region, Ganduje urged the region to integrate more fully into mainstream politics, highlighting the potential benefits of aligning with the APC.
He reiterated that the South-East could not afford to remain in opposition and should take advantage of the opportunities provided by joining the ruling party.
