Former US president Donald Trump has revealed he is “supposed to be dead” following an assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania.

Trump shared his harrowing account of the incident in an interview with the New York Post, describing it as a “very surreal experience.”

“I’m not supposed to be here, I’m supposed to be dead,” Trump stated, reflecting on the events of the previous Saturday when a gunman opened fire at his campaign rally.

The 78-year-old former president sustained a gunshot wound to his right ear, now covered by a white bandage.

Tragically, an innocent bystander was killed, and two other individuals were wounded in the attack.

Trump admitted that he narrowly escaped death by tilting his head slightly to the right to read a chart on illegal immigrants while addressing the crowd.

“By luck or by God, many people are saying it’s by God I’m still here,” Trump remarked, acknowledging the fortuitous timing that saved his life.
