Oyintiloye Asks Governors To Cut Wasteful Spending, Says Pres. Tinubu Alone Cannot Tackle Poverty

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Olatunbosun Oyintiloye has implored state governors to reduce “wasteful spending”.

Whilst speaking to newsmen on Sunday in Osogbo, Osun state capital, the former member of the house of house of representatives stated that the task of fighting poverty is not only the responsibility of President Bola Tinubu.

Oyintiloye said governors should do more to support the president in meeting the expectations of the Nigerian people.

“If truly some of the governors are sincere with the president in the delivery of good governance, the recent hunger protest could have been averted,”Oyintiloye said.

“For us to move forward and to minimise poverty, the governors must be ready to support the president.

“Although, there are some governors who are doing their best to support the presidents, but are being suspected of not doing enough.

“The whole burden cannot be on the president alone, the sincerity of the governor is important, especially in cutting wasteful spending and corrupt acts.

“It is not a time for buck passing. Masses are at the mercy of our governors. They are the ones we can see easily.

“The President is obviously doing a lot to bring down the sufferings but could that be said of the governors?”

The politician said while the policies of the government may not produce immediate benefits, they are in the interest of the people.

He then implored Nigerians to be patient with the president, stressing that it would take more than one year to address the country’s problems.
