Nollywood actor Williams Uchemba has sparked a social media conversation by addressing women who exceed their means from men, a behavior he believes contributes to the rise in single women.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Uchemba expressed his concerns, stating that an entitlement mentality among some women has become prevalent, leading them to expect lavish gifts and luxury items from men.
He argued that such expectations are unrealistic, especially when these women cannot afford the same things themselves.
“Ladies, listen, there is a law that says anything you cannot afford, do not request it in a restaurant,” Uchemba wrote.
He further elaborated that this mentality is becoming widespread among women of this generation, which, according to him, is one of the reasons many remain unmarried.
Uchemba cautioned against what he described as a “spirit of greed,” suggesting that it has become common for some women to request expensive items like G-Wagons and the latest iPhone models from men.
He emphasized that no man would want to marry a woman who displays such behavior, likening it to a “Jezebelian spirit” that needs to be addressed.
He also drew a distinction between appealing and demanding, encouraging women to adopt a more humble approach when asking for something.
According to Uchemba, wives should appeal to their husbands rather than make demands, as this fosters better relationships.
“That is why you see people you think you are better than getting married and you are wondering. They got married because they have character. Or do you think it is your body that keeps a man? Dey play,”
Uchemba continued, stressing that character, rather than physical appearance or material possessions, is what sustains a marriage.
