Nigeria’s former minister of communications and digital economy, Dr Isa Pantami has condemned the killing of Isa Bawa, the district head of Gatawa district in Sokoto state.
Bawa was abducted with his son on July 27.
The news of his death in captivity was made public on Tuesday by Shuaibu Gobir, the Magaji of the town.
Through a post on his official X page on Wednesday, Pantami conveyed his condolences to Bawa’s family and the entire Gobir emirate.
The former minister described the killing, perpetrated by suspected bandits and kidnappers, as “brutal and inhuman”.
Pantami offered prayers for the deceased, asking for divine intervention against those that carried out the killing.
“I write with a heavy heart to convey my heartfelt condolences to the family, the entire Gobir Emirate, and all those affected by the inhuman killing of His Highness Alhaji Isa Muhammad Bawa, the district head of Gatawa in Sokoto state by evil people—bandits/kidnappers,” Pantami wrote.
“We pray to Allah (SWT) to forgive and be merciful to him and admit him into Jannatul Firdaus.
“May He also be merciful to all those killed in the same way.
“For the criminals, if they will not repent and be guided, may the Almighty Allah expose and destroy them completely.”
