The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited VeryDarkMan, an activist, and Bobrisky, crossdresser and Instagram celebrity, following bribery allegations against its officials.
Through a statement issued on Tuesday evening, Ola Olukoyede, the EFCC chairman, also directed an immediate investigation into the allegations.
This directive from the EFCC came after VeryDarkMan, born Martins Otse, shared a video online where Bobrisky claimed to have bribed some EFCC officials with N15,000,000 to drop the money laundering charges against her.
Bobrisky, born Idris Okuneye, was released from prison on the 5th of August after she was sentenced to six months on April 12 for abusing the naira.
As contained in the statement made available by Dele Oyewale, the EFCC spokesperson, Olukoyede has set up a team of investigators to look into the allegations.
The anti-graft agency also asked the pair to present themselves at its Lagos directorate to assist investigators uncover the alleged bribery.
“In a swift reaction, the EFCC’s boss has constituted a team of Investigators to critically look into the allegations. To this end, the Commission hereby invites both Okuneye and Otse to make themselves available at its Lagos Directorate to assist investigators unearth the alleged bribery,” the statement reads in part.
“The EFCC wishes to assure the public that the allegations would be thoroughly investigated and the result of the findings made public accordingly.”
