A bigwig of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has told politicians to desist from inciting the masses into starting violent protests against the government.
He said “any politician hiding under the current hardship in the country to incite the masses against constituted authority should be regarded as an enemy of the country”.
The politician spoke on Sunday during an interaction with newsmen in Osogbo.
Oyintiloye also said that President Bola Tinubu needs prayers and the support of every Nigerian to stabilise the economy.
The APC chieftain said the president is doing all that is humanly possible to turn the economy around, stressing that it would be “unpatriotic for anyone, no matter how highly placed, to incite the masses into a protest”.
“There is no doubt that the economy is not in its best shape, but this is just temporary,” he said.
“The president is working assiduously to ensure that the economy is brought back to shape for Nigerians to enjoy.
“While we are waiting for that, I do not think inciting the masses against the government is the best way to go.
“I will strongly advise those politicians who are calling people to protest against the government to desist or be ready to face the law.”
The former lawmaker then called for patience from Nigerians.
“While the effect of some of the policies of government may be harsh at the moment, the outcome would be better for all,” he said.
