Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has expressed his deep displeasure over the poor treatment meted out to the Nigerian national team and officials by Libyan authorities.

The incident, which took place ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matchday 4, has drawn widespread criticism.

The 32-year-old footballer took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to voice his concerns and demand strict sanctions against the Libyan Football Federation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

“I’m extremely disappointed by the unjust treatment of the Super Eagles, the NFF officials, as well as dignitaries in Libya,” Musa posted.

“This is not sportsmanship, and I want the football governing body, @CAF_Online, to intervene and investigate this incident. I stand with the players in this difficult time.”

Following the unfortunate experience, the Super Eagles decided to withdraw from the AFCON qualifier scheduled for Tuesday.

The team, alongside officials from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has already begun their journey back to Nigeria.
