Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured Nigerians that the Federal Government is deeply concerned about the economic challenges affecting citizens, particularly the poor.
Shettima made this known on Monday at the 30th anniversary of the Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja, where he addressed the impact of the administration’s economic policies.
He emphasized that while some of the government’s measures are difficult, they are necessary for long-term national progress.
“My heart and the heart of President Bola Tinubu go to the Nigerian people. We empathise with what the poor and the young are going through in the Nigerian nation, but we have no option,” Shettima stated.
The Vice President highlighted that the government’s decisions, though unpopular, are essential to stabilize the economy. “Some of these decisions are unpopular, but the truth is most often the truth that men prefer not to hear,” he remarked.
Shettima reaffirmed the government’s commitment to alleviating the hardship faced by Nigerians, adding that steps are being taken to improve economic conditions over time
