Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has advised manager Enzo Maresca to give Portuguese winger Pedro Neto a starting role in the club’s next fixture.
Lampard’s comments come after Neto’s impressive performance in Chelsea’s recent 2-1 defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League at Anfield.
Neto, who came on as a substitute for Jadon Sancho at halftime, made an immediate impact and showcased his dynamic play.
Lampard believes the 23-year-old has done enough to secure a place in the starting lineup for Chelsea’s future matches.
Speaking to Premier League Productions, Lampard praised the Portugal international’s energy and contribution during the game.
“I think Pedro Neto came on and added a lot. He probably pushed himself into a big chance of starting the next games going forward,” Lampard added
The former Chelsea midfielder also highlighted Neto’s influence on the game, suggesting that his introduction brought a fresh dimension to Chelsea’s attack.
“I think he should start; he’s dynamic, and he changed it a bit up there. But they are probably lacking that little bit of an edge at the top end of the pitch,” Lampard added.
Despite Chelsea’s strong display, they were unable to secure points against Liverpool, and Lampard noted that the team would feel disappointed after the performance.
