The Dangote Refinery has announced a reduction in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, to N970 per litre for marketers.
This represents a N20 decrease from the previous price of N990 per litre.
The announcement was made by Anthony Chiejina, spokesperson for the Dangote Group, in a statement released on Sunday. According to Chiejina, the move is part of the company’s efforts to support Nigerians and express gratitude for their role in making the refinery a reality.
“As the year comes to an end, this is our way of appreciating the good people of Nigeria for their unwavering support in making the refinery a dream come true,” the statement read.
“This is also to thank the government for its support, as this measure complements the initiatives in place to encourage domestic enterprise for collective well-being.”
Chiejina emphasized that the 650,000 barrels-per-day refinery is committed to maintaining the highest quality and environmental standards for its products.
He also assured Nigerians that the refinery is scaling up production to meet and exceed domestic fuel consumption demands, allaying fears of supply shortages.
The price adjustment follows a recent agreement between the Dangote Refinery and the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) for direct fuel purchases.
Despite the reduction, petrol prices across Nigerian filling stations remain high, ranging between N1,060 and N1,115 per litre
