Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole has offered his prediction for the highly anticipated Premier League clash between Liverpool and Manchester United at Anfield this Sunday.
The Reds, currently in strong form, enter the derby as overwhelming favourites.
However, Cole believes the game won’t be as straightforward as some might expect, predicting a closely contested match with Liverpool edging out a 2-1 victory.
Speaking to Paddy Power, Cole said, “It’s a derby and it’s a one-off game. But having said that, you can’t look past this Liverpool side.”
Acknowledging Manchester United’s capability to rise to the occasion, Cole added, “United will turn up, make a game of it, but Liverpool will win 2-1.
They might threaten on the counter-attack and get a goal, but they’ll get pinned back at Anfield up against the Kop.”
Liverpool, known for their attacking prowess, will be looking to extend their dominance over their historic rivals.
Meanwhile, Manchester United, despite recent struggles, will aim to pull off an upset in what promises to be a fiercely contested encounter.
