Former Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi, has voiced strong criticism of Manchester United players following their 2-0 loss to Newcastle United earlier this week.
The defeat, United’s fourth in a row, has raised serious concerns about the team’s current form and player quality.
The Red Devils were outplayed at Old Trafford, with Newcastle taking an early lead through Alexander Isak in the 4th minute.
Joelinton doubled the Magpies’ advantage just 15 minutes later, leaving Manchester United chasing the game with little success.
On his Obi One podcast, Mikel described the performance as “horrendous,” stating, “Even if you’re not a United fan, it’s awful to watch them. Newcastle would’ve been 3-0 up in 20 minutes. It was a disaster.”
The former Chelsea midfielder defended United’s manager, Ruben Amorim, calling him a “fantastic and brilliant young manager,” but placed the blame squarely on the players.
“I’ve said it when he came into the club – the players in United, I’m sorry, they are nowhere good enough to be playing for Manchester United,” Mikel said.
