Kola Ologbodiyan, former PDP National Publicity Secretary, warns that Nyesom Wike’s increasing involvement in the All Progressives Congress’s governance is posing a threat to the PDP.
Ologbodiyan believes that Wike’s role in APC governance could ultimately lead to the collapse of the opposition party.
Speaking during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Tuesday, Ologbodiyan emphasized that there have been concerted efforts to reduce the PDP into an arm or branch of the ruling APC.
According to Ologbodiyan, the influence of prominent members like Wike is contributing to this crisis within the PDP, which is already grappling with its own internal leadership challenges.
Ologbodiyan, a long-time member of the PDP, also reaffirmed the official stance of the party, which is represented by the current National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.
He clarified that any statements or decisions made by Ologunagba are the official position of the party.
He further criticized the leadership dynamics that have emerged from Wike’s involvement in the APC, which Ologbodiyan claims is undermining the PDP’s autonomy and identity.
“There are attempts to reduce the Peoples Democratic Party to a branch or an arm of the All Progressives Congress,” Ologbodiyan remarked.
The former PDP spokesperson pointed out that Wike’s transition from a presidential aspirant under the PDP to a key minister in the APC has created significant tensions within the opposition party.
He warned that this could lead to a further erosion of the PDP’s standing in Nigerian politics.
