EFCC Invaded My Home with Guns

Popular Nigerian singer, Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, better known as Skales, has expressed a controversial reaction to the death of an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officer during a recent midnight raid in Anambra State.

Taking to his X account, the artist stated he was “happy it happened to them,” referencing the tragic incident.

Skales explained that his reaction stemmed from his personal experience with the EFCC, which he described as traumatic.

In October 2023, Skales claimed EFCC operatives invaded his home in Lagos during a raid, armed with guns.

He recounted that the event occurred while his daughter was still a newborn, leaving his family deeply shaken.

“I still suffer from the trauma of that day. My baby was barely a month old when they invaded my home with guns,” the singer shared.

Skales Reaction:

The EFCC officer in question was reportedly killed by a suspected internet fraudster during a raid in Ifite, Awka, Anambra State, over the weekend.

According to the EFCC, the suspect, identified as Joshua Chukwubueze Ikechukwu, fired shots at officers attempting to arrest him, resulting in the death of one operative and injury to another.

While Skales’ reaction has sparked mixed reactions online, some social media users criticized his comments as insensitive, while others empathized with his frustrations toward the EFCC’s operational methods.

The EFCC has since condemned public sympathy for the alleged fraudster, reiterating its commitment to combating financial crimes in the country.

Meanwhile, the tragic incident has reignited debates about the agency’s operations and their impact on civilians.
