The Niger State Police Command has arrested Jamilu Saidu, a resident of Kumbashi District, Mariga Local Government Area, for allegedly ki!!l!ng 30-year-old Iliyasu Aminu during an altercation at a wedding ceremony.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, stated that the tragic event occurred when a fight broke out between two villages—Yabawa and Ungwar Sarkin-Daji—during the wedding celebration.
According to Abiodun, the situation escalated, and Jamilu allegedly struck Iliyasu Aminu on the head with a machete, leading to his death.
“The suspect was immediately arrested and has confessed to committing the crime. He will be charged in court upon the completion of the investigation,” the police spokesperson said.
Abiodun further disclosed that Jamilu was among 10 suspects apprehended by the command in recent operations for various crimes across the state.
