The Niger State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper, Nasiru Isyaka, in the Kontagora Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed this in a statement over the weekend, revealing that Isyaka and his gang allegedly attacked Sabon-Gari Mangu Matachibu village on December 29, 2024, killing a victim and abducting two others.
According to the police, the suspect was apprehended when he visited one of the rescued victims at his residence and was identified as one of the kidnappers.
“On January 17, 2025, at about 10 am, police operatives from ‘A’ Division, Kontagora, arrested one Nasiru Isyaka of Sabon-Gari Mangu Matachibu village in connection with a kidnapping incident,” the statement read.
Abiodun stated that a locally made short gun was recovered from the suspect, who later confessed to the crime.
He has since been transferred to the Police Headquarters in Minna for further investigation and prosecution.
