Former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, declared that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa are not welcome in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He made this statement during an APC leaders’ meeting in Ika South and Ika North East local government areas on Monday, February 3.
Omo-Agege accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of spreading false narratives about APC’s strength in Delta State following the 2023 elections.
He emphasized that the party had secured two senatorial seats, two House of Representatives seats, and several House of Assembly seats, proving its growing influence.
“After the elections, PDP claimed APC no longer exists in Delta. Yet, APC won significant positions across the state. Even now, the only PDP senator is set to join APC. So, who is really on the ground?” he stated.
He clarified that while APC welcomes Senator Ned Nwoko and other PDP members interested in defecting, Oborevwori and Okowa remain exceptions.
“We built this party from scratch and will not allow individuals with questionable records to ruin what we have worked hard for,” he asserted.
Omo-Agege further accused the Oborevwori-led government of suppressing dissent within the Delta State House of Assembly, alleging that lawmakers faced suspensions for speaking out.
The APC National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Felix Morka, assured party members that the national leadership was committed to resolving internal issues before the 2027 elections.
Other party leaders at the event also emphasized the need for unity and reconciliation to strengthen the APC ahead of future political battles.
