Popular Nigerian comedian and actor, Bovi Ugboma, has revealed that he moved his children’s education to the United Kingdom due to concerns about bullying in Nigerian schools.
Speaking on a recent podcast, Bovi explained that while he attended a boarding school in Nigeria, he opted against enrolling his children in a similar setting within the country due to what he described as a widespread culture of bullying that has become normalised in the Nigerian educational system.
“My kids don’t live in the country anymore. They have been in the UK for two years now. It started by accident—my first son has been there since 2021 in a boarding house,” Bovi said.
The comedian further emphasized that while his own experience in a Nigerian boarding school helped him become “street-smart,” he did not want his children to go through the same environment.
“I went to boarding school in Nigeria, and it made me street-smart. So I decided that my kid needs to go to a boarding school, but not in Nigeria because the educational system has accepted bullying,” he added.
