Ekiti State has lost one of its broadcasting icons, Christianah Ademulegun, popularly known as Eye Opitan, who passed away at the age of 74.
A statement by her son, Femi Ademulegun, confirmed that the veteran broadcaster died in the early hours of Thursday after a brief illness.
Eye Opitan was a renowned voice in the media industry, having served at the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State (BSES) before retiring and later consulting for private radio stations.
She was widely celebrated for her captivating voice and unique style of chanting Ekiti eulogies and praise poetry.
Her legacy in indigenous broadcasting remains unparalleled, as she played a vital role in promoting Ekiti’s cultural heritage through her work.
She is survived by her children and grandchildren.
