The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results for external candidates, with a total of 57,114 candidates securing five credits and above, including English and Mathematics.
Announcing the results on Friday at NECO’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State, the registrar, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, stated that the examination recorded a 67.35 percent pass rate. A total of 86,067 candidates registered for the exams, which took place between November 14 and December 14, 2024.
According to the breakdown, 62,929 candidates (75.62 percent) obtained credit and above in English Language, while 77,988 candidates (93.93 percent) secured credit and above in Mathematics.
Additionally, 70,711 candidates (83.39 percent) earned five credits and above in any subject, irrespective of English and Mathematics.
On examination malpractice, Wushishi revealed that 6,160 candidates were booked for infractions, reflecting a 27.7 percent decline compared to 2023.
He also disclosed that seven supervisors were recommended for blacklisting due to poor supervision and lateness, while 14 examination centres—10 in Ogun State and four in Oyo State—were blacklisted for widespread malpractice.
