Man Advocates for Sharia Law in Reaction to Ilorin Cleric’s Alleged Murder of Final-Year Student
A Nigerian man has called for Sharia law in the case of an Islamic cleric, Abdulrahman Mohad Ballo, who was arrested for allegedly killing a final-year student of Kwara State College of Education, Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde, for ritual purposes.
In a Facebook post, the man suggested that since both the suspect and the victim were Muslims and the incident occurred in a predominantly Muslim state, the matter should be judged under Sharia law.
“I think I will support the idea of using Sharia law over this matter since both are Muslims and it happened in a state where almost 80% of residents are Muslims. Sebi they said Sharia law is about Muslims. Sharia la ma fi yanju oro yii oooooo,” he wrote.
Recall that Ballo was arrested after allegedly luring Yetunde through Facebook, where he obtained her phone number and later invited her to meet him. The tragic incident reportedly took place on Monday, February 10, 2025.
