A Kenyan woman, identified as Melvin Owuor, has been arrested for allegedly beating her four-year-old son to death after he soiled himself.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Owuor was apprehended alongside her friend following investigations into the child’s tragic demise.

The incident, which occurred in December 2024, has sent shockwaves through the community.

Authorities revealed that Owuor and her friend took the lifeless body of the child to Mama Lucy Hospital mortuary on December 9, 2024.

However, after being instructed to report the death to the police, they failed to return and switched off their phones, raising suspicion.

The hospital mortician, alarmed by their sudden disappearance, reported the matter to Mowlem Police Station, prompting detectives from Dandora and the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) to launch an investigation.

Initial claims suggested the child had died in his sleep, but forensic findings indicated he succumbed to injuries inflicted by his mother.

Further interrogation confirmed that Owuor was indeed the biological mother of the deceased, deepening concerns about the circumstances leading to the boy’s tragic end

“As the detectives continue to piece together the details, the suspect remains in custody, assisting authorities in uncovering the full story behind the child’s death,” the DCI stated.
