The deployment of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member to SportyBet’s headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos, has provoked widespread reactions on social media.
The news, which surfaced online, has triggered debates about the nature of some corps members’ Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) and the fairness of such postings.
While some users found humor in the situation, others questioned the NYSC’s deployment process.
One user recalled a similar experience, saying, “When I visited Corpers’ Lodge, Abeokuta, in 2014, a guy told me he was posted to a prison, and we all laughed at him. The guy said, ‘Imagine my parents calling and asking, nibo l’owa? And I replied, mowa lewon (I am in prison).’”
A netizen lamented, “You are directed to this location for your PPA to serve the country, while some politicians are stealing the country’s money in millions of dollars. One funny thing is that if you do anything fun in that NYSC uniform, they will punish you. God punish them.”
