A Grade I Area Court in Kubwa, Abuja, has officially dissolved the 15-year marriage between Abdulrahman Umar and Hauwa Ibrahim following the husband’s request for confirmation of divorce.

Delivering judgment, the presiding judge, Malam Musa Sabo, ruled that the marriage had ended in line with Islamic law and directed that a divorce certificate be issued to Hauwa.

During the hearing, Abdulrahman informed the court that he and Hauwa were married under Islamic law on March 10, 2010.

However, their relationship had suffered multiple separations over the years.

“I divorced my wife for the first time in 2019, the second time in 2023, and the final divorce on February 3, 2025,” Abdulrahman stated.

He added that the final pronouncement was made via a text message, which, according to Islamic law, signifies the completion of the divorce process.

Seeking legal confirmation, he urged the court to validate the separation and issue an official divorce certificate to his estranged wife.

In response, the judge upheld his request, bringing the marriage to formal end.
