A Nigerian man, identified as Afam, has advised fathers to adopt a balanced approach when raising their children, emphasizing the need for both discipline and love.
In a post shared on X, Afam cautioned against authoritarian parenting, warning that fathers who act like “Brigadier Generals” at home risk alienating their children.
“Men, as you raise your kids, balance discipline with love. If you like, go be a Brigadier General at home, as some people suggest—just don’t be surprised when your kids grow distant.”
He stressed that while setting boundaries and instilling values are essential, creating a nurturing and affectionate environment is equally important for a child’s emotional and psychological well-being.
