Nigerian rapper and activist Michael Stephens, popularly known as Ruggedman, has opened up about his decision to remain unmarried and childless at 51.
Speaking as a guest on TVC’s Your View, Ruggedman revealed that he made a vow in his younger years never to have a child out of wedlock, a commitment he has upheld to date.
“When I was much younger, I vowed not to have a child out of wedlock,” he said. “I’m still looking at whether it was the right decision in the long run, but I decided because it takes a lot from both parties.”
The rapper emphasized that marriage and fatherhood require entering into a relationship with someone one genuinely wants to be with. When asked if he had met the right person over the years, he admitted he had found some potential partners, but things did not work out.
“I saw some, but at the end of the day, it didn’t pan out,” he said.
