An 18-year-old girl, Rukayat Ashiru, has been arraigned before the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly drugging her boyfriend and stealing N4 million from him.
Appearing in court on Friday, February 28, 2025, Ashiru faced a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing but pleaded not guilty to both, according to a NAN report.
The prosecutor, PC Olapeju Durodola, told the court that the accused, alongside others still at large, committed the offense on November 30, 2024, at Mufu Lanihun, Yidi Agugu, Ibadan.
According to the prosecution, Ashiru allegedly added a substance to the drink of the complainant, Waris Olamilekan, causing him to lose consciousness, before stealing the money.
The offenses, Durodola said, contravene Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Presiding over the case, Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted the defendant bail of N2 million with two sureties in like sum. The court specified that:
One of the sureties must be a property owner within the court’s jurisdiction.
The second surety must be a blood relation of the defendant.
The case has been adjourned to May 26, 2025, for hearing.
