Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has urged business owners in the state to lower the prices of essential commodities to ease the burden on Muslims observing Ramadan.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony for the distribution of 1,250 cartons of dates donated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Yusuf emphasized the need for affordability during the holy month. The event took place at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano, on Friday.
“I call on our business community to be considerate and reduce the prices of essential commodities so that our people can maximize the benefits of Ramadan, both physically and spiritually,” the governor said.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Farouk Ibrahim, Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling food insecurity and ensuring that vulnerable residents receive necessary support.
He also called on Kano residents to assist one another, particularly those in need, while promoting peace and increased devotion during the fasting period.
