The Ekiti State Government has recruited 404 new operatives into the Amotekun Corps, Agro Marshal, and Grazing Marshal units as part of efforts to improve security and enhance food production across the state.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji, represented by his Special Adviser on Security, Brig. Gen. Ebenezer Ogundana (retd.), made this known on Friday during the Passing Out Parade held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Emure/Ise/Orun.
Oyebanji said the recruitment demonstrates the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, especially at the grassroots level, while also protecting the state’s agricultural zones.
He noted that the new personnel would play key roles in intelligence gathering, crime prevention, and support for food security by protecting farms and grazing areas.
“This recruitment is a bold step to strengthen our security system and ensure a peaceful environment for our people,” the governor stated.
“These officers will complement the efforts of conventional security agencies and ensure adequate coverage of all areas in the state.”
Oyebanji said the state’s current peaceful atmosphere is a result of strategic planning, consistent investment, and collaboration among various stakeholders.
He urged the newly inducted officers to carry out their duties professionally and with dignity, adding that their deployment would be strategic to ensure maximum impact across all local communities.
